Verdant Works: Dundee’s jute past brought to life

The legacy of Dundee’s jute industry – which once employed tens of thousands of people and exported the product across the world – is told at this historic mill in the Blackness area.

Preserved since the 1800s, and complete with the original 19th century courtyard, the building itself is considered of national importance.

Visitors are shown how jute went from fibre to cloth, offering a fascinating glimpse into the lives of Dundee mill workers. There’s also a gift shop and cafe.
