What’s On In Dundee: The best things to see and do this weekend (August 3-5)

While the Fringe might be taking most of the spotlight this month, it is worth remembering there are still fab things going on in Dundee.
Take a look at our picks for what’s happening in our bonnie city this weekend.
Tay in the Park
This wonderful boutique hotel in Dundee’s West End is turning four years old and staff are inviting you to celebrate with them.
To mark the occasion Taypark House will welcome visitors to a wee festival of their own.
There will be plenty for everyone to enjoy, including chilled music from local musicians and DJs, tasty food – including a BBQ, pizza and lots of their famous cakes! – plus fun stuff for kids to do.
Taypark House is in a beautiful location overlooking the the Botanic Gardens and will make an ideal spot for the birthday bash!

Music at the Mill

Barry Mill near Carnoustie
If you go in the opposite direction, east, and then keep going some more, you’ll find yourself at Barry Mill near Carnoustie where a mini music festival will be taking place.
This one is held at the National Trust site and is growing in popularity all the time and often has fun events like this.
Some top musicians from all over will be pouring into the festival.
Saturday’s headliners will be The Black Feathers, a husband-wife duo from Gloucestershire who have found success in a best-selling album and a US tour.
Sunday’s main act will be Rail Fan from Stirling, who are one of author Irvine Welsh’s favourites.
The event will also include summer fest usuals including great grub and a bar selling craft beers and spirits.

This popular Celtic band have been around for a wee while now and have gathered quite a following!
Often performing at large festivals and corporate events, they’ll be taking to the stage at Church this weekend for a night of great music.

The National Dance Company of Ireland: Rhythm of the Dance
Top notch Irish dancing is on the cards at the Caird Hall when world-class performers take to the big stage for a dazzling show.
You will be stunned by the beautiful costumes and movements of traditional Irish act that has left critics, audiences and fans wanting more!

Gigs and shows
The latest and greatest Dundee gigs:
No Problem (Conroy’s Basement)
Conroy’s Basement’s biggest act this week is this hardcore punk band from Canada.
No Problem have a critically-acclaimed album under their belts and have done tons of shows around the world.
This weekend they’ll be stopping off at Conroy’s to play the heavy riffs and bleak melodies that they are known for. This show will surely get Dundee fans going!
Bon Jovi Forever (Beat Generator Live)
This tribute act from Canada will be performing all your favourite Bon Jovi hits in a high energy show that will definitely get you pumped.
They don’t just look and sound like Bon Jovi, they put on shows like the American rockers full of dramatic stage effect, explosions and more.
We doubt you’ll even be able to tell the difference!
